Benjamin Price (Associate member United States Fencing Coaches Association) began fencing in 1967 while attending high school at Leysin American High School in Switzerland. He continued his fencing career at L.S.U. from 1971 to 1973. He coached the L.S.U. Fencing Club from 1973 to 2001. He was also employed as the fencing instructor at Baton Rouge Magnet High School from 1976 to 1985. He served as Venue Coordinator for fencing at the National Sports Festival in Baton Rouge in 1985. Dr. Price is the head coach and proprietor of the Baton Rouge Fencing Club.
Marge Collier (Moniteur (Foil/Epee) United States Fencing Coaches Association) began fencing in 1977 at St. Peter's College in New Jersey where she was captain of the fencing team. She continued to fence after moving to Baton Rouge for several years at LSU. After a decade plus break, she has returned to competitive fencing with the Baton Rouge Fencing Club. Ms. Collier has graciously consented to coach our beginners.
Daniel Novak began fencing in Los Angeles, California, in 1989, under Hungarian fencer Ivan Varadi. He continued training at Salle Gascon. As an undergraduate student he was the captain of the U.C.L.A. fencing team. He received his Ph.D. in English from Princeton University in 2002 and has recently joined the LSU English Department as an assistant professor.
Coaching Staff
David Burke (Moniteur (Foil/Epee) United States Fencing Coaches Association) began fencing in 2000 at the L.S.U. Fencing Club as a student at Catholic High School in Baton Rouge. He is an undergraduate in Engineering at L.S.U. He leads the warmups, drills and other training activities for the more advanced fencers. David is a two-time winner of the Mixed Foil Melee.
